When work meets meaning

A new restaurant popped up in my hometown a couple years ago. After tasting the cuisine and hearing the story, I was hooked.

Owner & operator, Bryan Slayton was in prison for 30 years on drug charges before his 2021 release. His love for cooking started while he was incarcerated. Talking to Bryan taught me that navigating life after release comes with so many obstacles that are rarely spoken about.

After talking to the owner and operator of Bad Wraps Inc., I knew I wanted to be a part of his journey.

Along with a few students at Mizzou, We created a website for the restaurant.

Here, creativity meets opportunity.

Next, I found myself interviewing his Parole officer and creating A radio-style Audio Profile on Bryan.

I’m happy to say, I still keep in touch with Bryan and will be stopping by the food truck next time I visit town.
